Marine Bellego is the winner of the 2021 Jacqueline Bardolph Prize for her thesis “Enraciner l’empire. Les multiples vies du jardin botanique de Calcutta, c. 1860-c.1910.”

The Jacqueline Bardolph Prize was instituted by the Société d’Étude des Pays du Commonwealth (Society for the Study of Commonwealth Countries) (SEPC) and for the first time in 2002. It was both to honor the memory of the late former president of the society, prematurely dead in 1999, and to encourage young research. The Prize, which is managed by the SEPC, is thus awarded every two years to the best thesis defended in France in the field of postcolonial studies.
