At the begining of the 20th century, the invention of the rubber tire revolutionized lifestyles. In the Independent State of Congo, private property of Leopold II king of the Belgians, the colonists terrorize the populations …

The colonists went so far as to establish the practice of severed hands. But a series of photos, in support of an international campaign, in particular to shift opinions in Europe and the United States.

In 2 episodes aired on France Culture on September 11 and 12, 2021 in the program Une Histoire Particulière, Daniel Foliard and other speakers come back to these events.
